Understanding Your Calorie Needs

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is considered the most accurate formula for calculating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Your BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

Men: BMR = (10 x weight in kg) + (6.25 x height in cm) - (5 x age) + 5
Women: BMR = (10 x weight in kg) + (6.25 x height in cm) - (5 x age) - 161

Activity Multipliers

  • Sedentary (1.2): Little or no exercise, desk job
  • Light (1.375): Light exercise 1-3 days per week
  • Moderate (1.55): Moderate exercise 3-5 days per week
  • Active (1.725): Hard exercise 6-7 days per week
  • Very Active (1.9): Very hard exercise or physical job

Note: These calculations provide estimates. Individual metabolism varies based on factors like muscle mass, genetics, and health conditions. For personalized advice, consult a healthcare provider or registered dietitian.
